that’s me! advocates like me can meet you at the hospital! and it’s true that you can get the rape kit but not report to the police. additionally, if you report to the police, it’s NOT your decision whether to take your rapist to court. it’s the da’s. that’s not as comforting a fact, but i think it’s important to know that you hold the power of choice until you report to the police, and then the decision to prosecute or not is not in your hands.
