Vienna, Austria-based artist Bogi Fabian uses glow-in-the-dark and black light-reactive paints to transform rooms into otherworldly getaways in distant galaxies, jungles, caves or underwater. While some of Fabian’s murals are partially visible when the lights are on, the walls and floors of some of her painted rooms appear completely blank until the lights go out. In the dark the walls and floors come alive with dreamy glowing colors.

“I am trying to create dreamful atmospheres, paint walls and floors and manage to enlighten my art with and without a source of energy.

Thus, the spectator can experience the result in the daylight as well as in the dark, and in that way enjoy it in all its facets. My goal is to create unique spaces and rooms giving them an identity and a soul, where relaxing and living become an experience.”

In addition to her dazzling glow-in-the-dark murals, Fabian also works with bodypainting and glowing ceramics. To check out more of her dreamy artwork visit Bogi Fabian’s website and Facebook page.

Jellyfish Lake in Palau. Apparently the jellies have lost their ability to sting because of lack of predators in the lake and you can swim with them!

BUCKET LIST.

WAIT BUT THAT’S NOT EVEN THE COOLEST PART: These jellyfish carry small populations of algae inside their bodies and derive much of their nutrition from the sugars that the algae produce. The jellyfish follow the sun across the lake each day and rotate continuously, so that the algae are always getting maximum sunlight exposure for photosynthesis. Then at night they dive to deeper parts of the lake so the algae can absorb nitrogen. It’s one of the best examples of endosymbiosis in action and it’s KICKASS.

This philosophy applies to SO MUCH.

Agents want to love your book. Hiring managers want you to be exactly the person they need. The person on the other end of that blind date is hoping beyond hope that you’re their huckleberry.

Applies to interviews too!

A+ philosophy.

This definitely applies to interviews as well! I really like this! Excellent tips.

TRUTH. This totally helped lift my spirits and turn on the charm during interviews!

This was never emphasized enough during undergrad. They’re on your side! They want the process to be easy!

hi there. i’m an archistudent who will be visiting Singapore soon for a study trip. would you mind recommending some places to visit? especially in (but not limited to) the urban design and preservation context. thanks a bunch :)

archistudent:

hi there! Shophouses make up most of the ‘historical preservation’ here. I recommend those in the keong saik road/duxton road area in Chinatown, especially juxtaposed with The Pinnacle at Duxton. Haji lane in Little India is a little more hipster. Those at the Boat Quay area are more commercialised, but if you’re interested in the wide range of uses of shophouses presently you can take a look. The National Museum of Singapore and Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall are two nice places where new and old come together, they were refurbished by the same architecture firm; Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall being the most recent one.

The designs for Bras Besah and Stadium MRT stations are worth looking at. Also yes, the new National Stadium which opened last year. Walking along Amoy street/cross street towards the Marina Bay area is another area to observe the contrasts between different typologies. Of course there’s the Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay which are the two newest places of interest. The hotel lobby of Marina Bay Sands and the Domes in Gardens by the Bay are the highlights.

Other buildings which you might be interested in are: School of the Arts, Singapore, Lasalle College of the Arts, Parkroyal Hotel 🙂 Have fun on your trip!

i realize these are origami but i’d probably eat the fuck out of them anyhow

Making these is actually really relaxing

You know how?

How do you make these?

heres two different articles on how to make them

Also, if you suck at cutting long straight strips of paper, and don’t have access to a paper cutter, you can often get pre-cut paper star strips for reasonably cheap. (or if you want to pay more, you can get stuff like glow-in-the dark paper)

Making these never goes out of style. They add great color to everything and they are so fun to make. Perfect craft to make while marathoning Studio Ghibli movies.
